METUCHEN BOROUGH
Centrally located in New Jersey, Metuchen captures the spirit of small town America. You'll typically find the residents walking the tree lined streets, visiting the downtown shops and restaurants, frequenting the many playgrounds and parks, jogging or biking the Middlesex Greenway, or gathering at the annual events like parades, street fairs, June Bug Arts Festival, town-wide garage sales or Labor Day/New Years Eve fireworks.
Aside from its small-town community feel, Metuchen’s age differentiates it from its more modern suburban neighboring towns. From the Victorian era horse watering trough on Middlesex Avenue to its many charming restored historic homes, Metuchen retains a historic character and timeless stability.
Also known as “The Brainy Borough” because of the many professionals, artists, educators and literary figures (and now even a former Governor) who lived here, Metuchen developed primarily due to its location and access to key transportation routes. From Metuchen it is easy to commute to New York City by train or bus, or to Newark, Trenton, or nearby Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
I am very familiar with the commute to NYC having done it personally for several years. As a resident of Metuchen for over 11 years, an active community member and the parent of a 1st and a 4th grader at Campbell School, I have a wealth of first hand knowledge that I'm happy to share.
